Vievie in Wonderland

I suppose today is a day for daydreaming. Dull then sunny, bright then sombre.  A mix of necessary reality and a walk in the clouds.  It is after all Friday.  Making plans for the weekend, flying paper airplanes with the boys, a friend popping in for coffee.  The perfect mélange.

Feeling kinda funny in a good way so I thought I would wear my wonderland top and glam it up for no special reason with my jewelled kitten heels.  I haven't had the occasion to wear them so I'm wearing them just because.
My top is from No Name,Jeans so old I can't remember where I got them & shoes from Oxfam.
A bit of Erik Satie, coffee and looking through old photographs. Simple happy things are the best kind of happy things :)

Bon Weekend!

Blue on the Brain

I think blue is my favourite colour & skirts are my favourite clothing item at the moment. Ever go through phases of wanting to wear different versions of the same thing all the time?  I do try and mix it  up but right now I'm in a happy place with my blues and skirts!  I think skirts are often over looked for every day wear which is a shame because they can be very comfortable and chic!
On a different note, I'm not sure if it's my age or something else but as I flick through images of street styles, I've really had enough of cut off jean shorts and tights! It's time to move on! Same with bodycon. It had a moment but that moment has passed so just leave it alone! PLEASE!
Ok enough moaning.... Here's an outfit I wore earlier this week:

My blue top is from Penny's, Skirt from a charity shop, shoes & necklace from Dunnes Stores.

I like colour blocking but I usually include a soft colour as two bright colours make me feel like a child's tv programme presenter, some power trip woman from the 80's or an add for United Colours of Benetton.
What's happening this weekend? The kids are sick and sound like smokers, we're doing up our garden & all I really want is a good nights sleep! - Here's hoping!
Still, I have lovely fresh flowers & I've made rice crispy squares like my mum used to make them...life is still good!
Have a great weekend everyone!

Things That Glitter

As I'm trying to widen out in my choices of jewellery this is what I want to share with you this week.  There are many great finds online but it must be said there is an awful lot of rubbish out there too!  Among other things I spotted were gorgeous H&M neon yellow necklaces being sold at twice or even three times the original price because they're out of stock. As a rule I refuse to be a slave for fashion items, and I most certainly will not play the ass pining for a carrot at the end of a stick held by bulk buying little profiteers looking to make a quick buck!

Preferring the nod over the full fledged deep curtsy when it comes to trends I was looking for things that were unique and different to what we are seeing on the high street or at the very least, on trend at a great price. enjoy!

Weekend in Print

Well I had a wonderful weekend, and I hope you all did too!  Friday I went to the gym (yes I'm still going), but I won't bore you with the details except one little event. I nearly fell off my bike that goes nowhere at the sight of a man coming out of the lady's change room and was about to vocalise this offence when I realised that HE was actually a SHE! TIP: When you work out so much that you start looking like a bloke, it's time to lay off the weights!
We had a lovely family dinner Saturday night as my sister-in-law was over from Cornwall and Sunday we had some friends over for a lazy lunch followed by a walk along the Shannon river with the kids. There was also much football but I wont even pretend I know what's going on or that I'm interested! SO, here's what I wore over the weekend:

Jumper & skirt from Penny's, necklace from Dorothy Perkins and heels from Dunnes Store.
I'm loving the midi length and I hope it continues for a good while.  The important thing to remember is to wear heels :)
Blazer & shoes from a charity shop, dress from Dunnes Stores.
Prints are also one of my favourite trend this season with the exception of tropical. When your as pale as me, bright coloured plants and fruits don't exactly compliment my tan but who knows, there might be a tropical print out there with my name on it.. not holding my breath on that one!

I found some lovely little treats online so keep in touch, I'll have them up later this week.

Have a great week everyone!

Pretty in Pink

Well, I'll let you be the judge of that.  I hope you all had a lovely weekend.  My family are coming to visit at the end of next month and I can't wait to see them!  I only see them once a year so it's all hands on deck to spruce up the house and garden.  I hate that things have to look worse before they get better but in the end it will all be worth it! Here's some of what I wore over the weekend and little treats I managed to find in between home improvement stuff!

Soft pink lace top from Dunnes, Skirt from eBay, Shoes from Heatons and button clutch from Aldo.

My basic Penny's cream top & belt, vintage floral skirt, my favourite shoes of the moment from Dunnes Stores and soft taup leather clutch from a swap party.

I've been meaning to branch out in my choice of jewellery. I tend to wear the same things to death! You may have noticed I wear that dark stone cameo necklace quite often :) I found this interesting necklace for €3 at Dorothy Perkins and this lovely vintage floral skirt in Oxfam for €5.  It's a great fit and I love that it has pockets! Hope you check out your local charity shops from time to time, you never know what great little things await!

Have a great week tous le monde!

Vievie-Georgette Wears ....

Did I tell you I won a lovely outfit from InStyle's Senior Fashion Editor Natalie Hartley? Probably, maybe even a few times :) I absolutely love it! Not only can I not moan about never winning anything anymore but this is a huge step in my conquering orange, an arch enemy of any pasty faced girl, I mean fair complexioned mademoiselle.

Personalised tape, a little secret stationary dream of mine.

This week's flowers, because who doesn't like flowers?

The trousers are actually wide leg but I've tucked them into elastic hair bands I have around my ankles to show off my purple heels, and not kill myself tripping over!
Vintage lilac cardie & jewellery from Penny's to finish off the look
I'm a big fan of Natalie Hartley's style not just because her clothes are amazing but she's one of those people who's character shapes her style. She wears the clothes, not the other way around and I love getting inspiration from the way she puts things together.
If your not following her blog, your really missing out!
Have a great weekend tous le monde!

Wedding Belle

This is high wedding season and if your like me you need your money to go further without compromising on looks.  When I was single there was such a buzz about weddings and the possibility of meeting someone. Now that I'm married it's a lovely reminder of how special our own day was, a chance to get all dressed up and share in some else's joy. Whatever your looking forward to I'm sure you want to look your very best!  I've pulled together a little selection of great dresses at very reasonable prices that are sure to make an impact if your attending a wedding over the summer and if your not, they're still great dresses!
I must tell you that all these dresses reflect a few of my personal beliefs regarding being a wedding guest.
1) There are always the overdressed or under dressed guests, don't be either of these!
2) Don't outshine the bride, it's her day for goodness sake!
3) Unless the invite says so, don't wear white!
4) Less is NOT more! You don't want to be remembered for the wrong reasons so dress respectably!
OK, enough preaching. Proceed and enjoy!

I just thought it was so beautiful I had to include it.
I think it's just stunning!

There is lots of great stuff on the high street but one of the things I love about shopping online is that it's highly unlikely someone else will show up with the same outfit!
Hope you saw something you liked, wedding guest or not! :)
